73 NORTHBOUND IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
What is happening:
Existing bridges will be widened or modified to add a fourth northbound lane to accommodate morning congestion for six miles between Aliso Creek Drive and Bison Avenue. The additional lane will be added to two sections of the center median. The first section begins just south of Glenwood/Pacific Park Drive to just north of Laguna Canyon Road. The other section begins just north of the Catalina View Toll Plaza to just south of Bison Avenue.
The following bridges will be widened:
- Wildlife crossing (1/4 mile south of Newport Coast Drive)
- Newport Coast Drive
- Bonita Canyon Drive
Construction is scheduled to begin October 2008 and will last approximately 15 months. There will be minimal impact to traffic during construction.
Construction activity will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will be a need for occasional nighttime work and measures will be taken to minimize noise and light impacts.

241 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
What is happening:
A third FasTrak® lane will be added in each direction of the 241 roadway median through the Windy Ridge Toll Plazas. Adding the third FasTrak lane through the toll plazas will reduce the number of lane changes required when transitioning between the toll plazas and the 91 freeway connectors.
Two bridges will be widened as part of the project:
- Southbound Southern California Edison bridge
- Northbound Windy Ridge Wildlife bridge
Construction is scheduled to begin October 2008 and will last approximately 12 months. There will be minimal impact to traffic during construction.
Construction activity will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will be a need for occasional nighttime work and measures will be taken to minimize noise and light impacts.
